The 5 th International Islamic Universities Conference, Tanzania.
The IIIT sponsored the 5th International Islamic Universities Conference for East African Islamic universities which was hosted by Muslim University of Morogoro (MUM) from 17th to 19th November 2023 at Morena Hotel in Morogoro, Tanzania. 150 participants from 10 Muslim based universities in East Africa attended. All participants paid for their travel and accommodation expenses and we provided them with daily meals.
Our main theme for the conference "Major Trends in Islamic Intellectual Thought: Challenges and Prospects" and we received 48 papers which underwent scrutiny by the Academic team and 33 papers were selected for presentation during the 3 days conference.
The conference was officially opened on the morning of Friday 17th November 2023 by the Vice Chancellor of Muslim University of Morogoro, Prof. Musa Assad and the key note address was delivered by Prof. Omar Hasan Kasule. The conference was well managed and time controlled by volunteer students from the university. The conference concluded in the late afternoon of Sunday 19th November 2023 and I conducted the closing ceremony. The presenters were presented with certificates and the rest of the participants would receive their certificates through email. The conference proceedings and papers shall be published in an official report.
Dr. Jamil Serwanga Vice Rector Academic Affairs, Islamic University in Uganda announced that the 6th International Islamic Universities Conference will be hosted by IUIU in August 2025, InshAllah.
This report provides an overview of the workshop organized by the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) – East Africa in partnership with the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) held from 16th - 17th June,2023 at Islamic University in Uganda, Kampala Campus. The theme of the workshop was “The Integration of Knowledge Thesis: An Islamic perspective.” The objective was to expose the participants to a body of theoretical and practical research on integration of knowledge from the scientific and Islamic standpoints. The workshop was physically attended by no less than 40 participants (Appendix A. List of Participants); and over 50 participated via the various online media platforms including Zoom (Appendix E. links for the Zoom Recordings) and YouTube
